I successfully found the world’s most dangerous food
Not that I have been on a lifelong quest of anything. I just happen upon these things.
These bad boys weight NOTHING, are spicy as all get out- my mouth is LITERALLY still on FIRE, oh and they are terrible for you…like REALLY terrible.
The sad thing is you can eat a whole can without even realizing it. I wouldn’t know from personal experience or anything.
Hence why they are so dangerous. Mr. Krisps, you might just be the death of me.

Today we {CELEBRATE}
Today July 12, 2010 is a day of celebration for this Single Girl and her Habesha husband. Today THEboy went to his US embassy Visa appointment.
He got all dressed up in his best suit. Got a ride from our friend Carolyn (thankfully as it was pouring rain all night long and into the hours of the morning. Getting a taxi would have been impossible). He arrived at the embassy to wait & wait &wait.
He was the LAST person interviewed.
She asked him if he had ever traveled: No
Had he eve been to the US before: NO
Why are they sending you when you are a new employee: I have proven to be trust worthy.
US Embassy worker: Congratualtions Adam your visa is approved
Adam: Are you sure?
US Embassy worker: yes, now go pay your 50etb.
SO today is a celebrated day in our little household! It is VISA DAY!

She asked him if he had ever traveled: No
Had he eve been to the US before: NO
Then where did you get this confidence: From God.
Why are they sending you when you are a new employee: I have proven to be trust worthy.
They asked him gruling questions about [his job/the company/his schooling/business in the us/budgets/legal president/import&exports] and more to see if he was a legit business man or not.
Then they asked him for a copy of his degree. At this point THEboy thought he was a goner so he said: I could go get it and bring it back, but it would be a waist of both of our time. Either you believe me I have a legal degree or you do not. I can bring it any other time you want.
US Embassy worker: Congratualtions Adam your visa is approved
Adam: Are you sure?
US Embassy worker: yes, now go pay your 50etb.
SO today is a celebrated day in our little household! It is VISA DAY!
When the THEboy called me I was prepared for both reactions. He told me that he didn’t get it and we could start working on other plans. I mistakenly believed him, then he said IM JOKING BABY WE GOT IT!!!
I {screamed} and did a little dance and clapped my hands.
Upon his arrival at work I got a big old kiss, a sweet hug and we both laughed and clapped.
Then we went to the Hilton for a super lavish lunch that has left us both a little stuffed and sleepy.
Ohhhh Happy visa DaY!

Rain, rain go away
The other day (7/6/10)
we were getting out of the car at my guest house. I was attempting to lock the doors and we could hear the rain coming. When the rain comes in Addis it comes quick and hard. You can literally hear it moving down the street to your house.
THEboy yelled: hurry the rain is coming!
Me: wait the widow is down and I can’t get the door open.
THEboy then grabbed my car keys and tried to get into the car to roll up my window. Then I realized our water was in the back of the car (I can’t drink tap water or I might like die) So I said: Get the water. ITs in the back!
By this time it was pouring, I was under the porch and watching and laughing at this point.
THEboy was dancing around the car trying to get the doors open.
First he headed to the back door which didn’t have a lock. Then he went to the passenger’s side, which he couldn’t get open. Then he headed to the driver’s side and said: BABY we’ll get it later.
He ran under the porch and we hugged and laughed. Then we did a little dance and laughed some more.
Oh how I love this goofy boy!
& he did remember to go out and get the water later- promptly after the heavy rain stopped
[Clay-mation/animation/stick people] back by popular demand....ok like two people said they like them. And I have been on bed rest for days so it helped fill my time.
It is the rainy season, which means Addis is COLD, wet and the roads are terrible- not that they were great to start with but the rain makes it worse.

He might really love me
After eating at my favorite place, I got sick. Like real sick. THEboy was so good to me.
He called me in the middle of the night randomly and finds out I was violently ill
He talked me through throwing up
Sent a female friend over to check things out- I was insistent that I didn’t want him to come over because I was just gross
He Stopped by on his way to work to make sure everything was ok.
Brought me cold water
He lied down next to me while I vomited during his lunch break
Told me that I looked beautiful when it was obvious I looked like crap
Made sure I had saltines and 7up
He stayed with me until I fell asleep that night
Stopped by later just to see if I needed anything.
He takes good care of me.

Seeing THEboy again
I won’t lie I was a little nervous. I mean TWO months apart…that is a long time. Even though we talked twice a day, and skyped and emailed. I was still nervous that things would be weird when we were together.
So I landed in Addis, made it through immigration no problem, front of the line, straight through, it was too easy. I should have known my bags would be the last ones off.
So we had a little snaffoo at the airport and I ended up taking 4 bags on my own to Ethiopia. Not a big deal if they didn’t all have to go through a conveyor belt and x-ray machine. So I enlisted the help of an airport guy. Cost me, well Adam 20etb when I made it through and to the other side. I wheeled my little cart out and THERE HE WAS! Soooo cute! He gave me a quick hug, paid my little helper and we were on our way.
I took two GIANT duffel bags each weighing over 60lbs each. Adam was pushing the heavy cart and one of the bags was hanging a little over the edge and dragging the entire way to the car. No matter how we positioned it, the bag dragged. Everyone we walked past kept pointing it out, we kept laughing. Nothing we could to at that point but get out of there.
I showed him all the goodies I smuggled over from the states. YES a 6 month supply of hair products for me…febreeze and a laundry plunger. Total highlights for him I am sure!
So Day one we headed to Debre Zeit to spend some time with his family. Adams mom Yeshi mad doro wat my FAVORITE food ever for my arrival back in Ethiopia. We talked with his step dad, saw his new cousin Fitsum- who is BEAUTIFUL and ohhh so tiny. Such a cute little girl.
I was quickly losing steam so we headed back to Addis before it was dark, I showered- which was Greatly needed at this point- and watched the Hangover. SORRY ASHLEY I didn’t mean to steal it! Though I see why its one of your favorites.
Sunday We went to church which is surprisingly entertaining with Adam there. We were looking at peoples kids ad trying to figure out what our children will look like. {OBVIOUSLY} they will have insanely curly hair…oh the poor little ones, but they will be beautiful. We teased about adopting a multiracial family and what skills each of our different children would have. Obviously the Asian baby would be the next karate kid.
We said goodbye to a good[ missionary/friend], talked with the mission president about temple recommends for the upcoming wedding, and I crashed yet again.
For some reason the Jet lag is really hitting me this time. I repacked all my bags, because they were strewn about while I was looking for goodies/gifts. It is amazing how everything fits in your bags ONCE, but never again. It is like the stuff multiplies and grows. And I went from 3 bags of personal stuff down to two bags and then my carry on to take to the village.
For the 4th Adam and I ate hamburgers. I sang the national anthem. I was in bed by 11pm, WIDE awake by 3am and ready to die of sleep deprivation again at 1.
Oh its good to be back!
