I have said it before, I have a [love/hate] relationship with provo. With winter in ALMOST full swing, I am starting to lean towards the hate side.
So in an effort to you know, not hate our life here- Adam and I have committed to explore our little neighborhood. That means looking for new places to eat, places to visit, fun things that are within walking distance. Luckily downtown Provo has quite a bit going on this time of year.
So this weekend we VENTURED OUT… a major feat for newlyweds. Especially those on a budget. We got all gussied up and headed out. Adam has been on a burger tour and tonight I wanted to help him venture out JUST a little bit.
So we braved the slightly rainy weather long enough to walk the 3 blocks to Angels of Philly.
Worth the midget walk?
Oh yeah…totally worth it.
Oh yeah…totally worth it.
I L.O.V.E. LOVE cheese steaks. So much so that when I went to NY a few years ago Lindsey and I went WAY out of our way to get one at shortys.
Since then I have been looking for a reason to go to Philly…I have yet to come up with one, but I am still working on it.
But now…eh, why even bother? I mean besides all the historically stuff…..
Adam was a little skeptical at first and let me order.
His | Hers |
Foot Long | 6 Inch |
Beef | Beef |
Grilled Onions | Grilled Onions |
Sautéed mushrooms | VOM I hate mushrooms |
Sweet peppers | Banana Peppers |
American Cheese | Provolone Cheese |
I looked at some of the local artist that were showcased on the exposed brick walls while Adam topped off or soda’s. He is a big fan of anywhere with a fountain drinks. I am a fan of places that serve COKE products.
We found a table by the front of the restaurant and got settled while we ANXIOUSLY awaited our name being called. When it was…Adam’s eyes WERE HUGE!
Can you see why?
YEAH that is a foot long STEAK sandwich loaded to the brim. They don’t skimp on the meat here. It was amazing. Most cheese steaks are a little dry, or aren’t cheesy enough or the meat feels like chalk. This was GOOD. Perfect meat. Extra Cheese and everything was really juicy. I am getting re-hungry just thinking about it.
His was better than mine…sad to say but the sweet peppers were the winner. Good thing he had a foot, so he could share. We quickly gobbled up the [cheesey/steaky] goodness and snapped a few pictures (because I take pictures of EVERYTHING).
The owner came over to check on our meal and see if everything was fine.
Adam was excited to tell him that he loves burgers, but that his sandwiches’ were WAY better than any burger he had ever had. He even told him this is my wife and she will blog about it.
DUH, I blog everything.
So after Adam buttoned his pants (he was that full), we rolled ourselves out of chairs and made the LONG (or at least on a full belly it seemed that way) trek home. Totally full. Totally satisfied. And scheming a way to get my parents to take us to dinner there at some pointing the future….Muah ha ha, we have evil free food plans. Sue us!
We considered this little adventure a success.
The walk home was a lot colder & wetter. Good thing for umbrellas and hand holding.
Dear Provo People,
Please keep this place in business and check it out. We would even meet you there for lunch or dinner.
